Explosive Atmosphere Zones

Identify explosive and hazardous areas to use explosion-proof equipment and obtain relevant certifications. Explosion zones are gaseous environments that are classified according to the amount of gas available and how long they last in the environment.

  • ZONE 0: It refers to the area in which the explosive atmosphere flows continuously or for a long time. This time is estimated at more than a thousand hours per year. That is, if the gas environment is such that the explosion conditions flow in it for more than a thousand hours a year, it falls into this category.
  • ZONE 1: It refers to an area where an explosion may normally occur for a period of time. This time is estimated to be less than ten thousand hours per year.
  • ZONE 2: There is normally no explosive atmosphere in this area, but these conditions may occur and disappear after a short time. This time is estimated to be less than ten hours per year.
